Busy Saturday – a Sequel

Hey, I just noted this…my blog posts has reached at 50. 50 posts are published….great….thanks to my readers [anybody there??]….and now read on this 51st.
OK, now don’t get bored. I m going to write another shorty about ‘busy’ Saturday. Actually I have holiday on Saturday and so that I do things which I like the most. Yes, movies… I always make sure that I don’t miss any good one.

This Saturday I was lucky that Rock on !! is still going on in halls. After lunch, I straightly went to hall, got ticket, sat back relaxed and enjoyed…again. That fabulous movie. One thing I want to add to my review is, amazingly director has taken big risk of putting up continue 3 songs, without a single scene in between them. Rock On, Zehreelay and Pichhle saat dinon mein… All three are a continue treat. Audience don’t dare to go out. Enjoyed it very much. Similarly two songs, after one another in climax. Lovely ‘tum ho toh..’ and catchy ‘Sinbad the sailor’. Bravo.

At last,

I got to see ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ – quoted as ‘most sincere effort’ of the year. Yes, it indeed is. The movie is so sincere, that it carries you away with it like you are watching and feeling aftershocks of Mumbai blasts. A brilliant ensemble cast. Just see names. Paresh Rawal, Kay Kay [always the best], Irrfan Khan, Madhvan and Soha Ali khan. All brilliance dazzle on screen. But show stealer is Paresh as always, and I don’t know his name, the guy who plays ‘Kadam Saab’ a junior to Paresh Rawal. He is awesome. Also I don’t know, why on earth Paresh do crap roles like ‘chaddi’ vendor in one two three. And so on. Please sir, do what you are best at.
The director ‘Nishikant Kamat’ who was very famous with his Marathi movie, Dombivali Fast, in his this first hindi venture-shines all the way.

Yes, the movie lacks of tight plot, but this is a different one. It’s a docu-drama. Which follows 5 different people after 7/11. So at some places, it purely looks like a documentary about govt. about police and so on. But still it gets you involved. Whenever you see script is falling, Paresh comes and saves the show. Madhvan is also good so is Soha. Irrfan is getting so popular in this kinda roles, without much dialogues, like the one of Raj Kapoor in Jaagte Raho. I can see director is inspired by that character for Irrfan. Mumbai is shot very well. Pure and pure Mumbai spirit. Climax speech of Paresh is also very moving. The scene, I and most of the people will like is the last one, when everyone gets up and stand in silence for Blast victims. Amazing, pin drop silence in hall. Full credit to director. And a slowly increasing sound of the song-

’Ae dil hai mushkil jeena yahaan…zara hatke zara bachke yeh hai ‘Bambai’ meri Jaan…’

On A Busy (!!) Saturday !!

SO, There, finally I watched ‘Schindler’s List’. The most favorite movie amongst directors of whole world. Directed by Steven Spielberg. There is so much written about the movie. So I won’t go on and on about the movie. But it’s a fabulous, amazingly shot movie. Spell binding performances by all, yes the whole cast. Largest cast I have ever seen. Those who don’t know, whole movie is shot in black and white. One reason I think must be that, there is so much of blood in the movie, that director has got idea of b/w. Images cant go out of your mind, like scenes of shoot out, mass shower of ladies and girls, kids hiding in toilet gutters and many more. So hard hitting the movie is.

Next at night, I seen another movie with Nazi-Jewish backdrop. But in totally different way. ‘Exorcist-The Beginning’. A sequel of best horror movie ‘Exorcist’. This is unlike the original, so much of horror. This one is soft horror, and much of mythological. I decided to see movie at 11pm, with lights off. I started the movie, and was terrified in first 15 minutes only. I suddenly jumped up from bed and turned the lights on. Then watched the whole movie with lights on. It was ok ok movie though.

What’s more? Indian idol is on. Auditions are going on and on. Sonali is not bad as a judge. This time they are selecting more and more girls. That is good. Certainly I want a lady Indian idol this time. Lets see. On Saturday, one chubby girl [name was shruti or something] who was so confident, I think she will go places this time.

Music??
Finally, I heard whole soundtrack of Karzzz… Himesh impressed me in ‘dhoom tere ishq ki’ Really. Though still I think that Rahat Fateh ali Khan, is the most suitable voice for that. But Himesh has done a really good effort in this. Song keep running in my mind. Music and vocals both are good. [I know this is too much, but I cant deny good effort by HR]. Overall, music is passé, of Karzzz. It will find mass takers and movie is gonna find audience as well.

KIDNAP- what the f? Imraan how can u choose such a movie? I can tell by low quality promos of the movie, that it surely is going to be bombed at box office. Movie promos look like low grade movie. Who will say that this is movie by director of Dhoom and D2?? That was yashraj who made it look cool and sound cool too. Music is so rubbish overhere. Loot Jaye, track is recorded so poor way, that I hardly can hear voice of singer. And a shameless copy of ‘I love rock ‘n roll’ here in song ‘hey ya!!”. Rubbish lyrics rules overhere too. See the sample ‘Mausam bada Awesome hai’’. What??!!! And another song by Adnan. What the f Lyrics. Note down my words, movie will start off well because of JTYJN hangover about Imraan. Then it will find no takers after Sunday.

Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi - Rajshri Productions is at it again. Vivaah was sugarcoated sweet. This is more than that. This movie must be Sugarcoated ‘Vivah’. Yes double sugar. Its so so so much sweet, pure hindi, and marriage video kind of movie. I can tell this by listening to 12, yes 12 songs. None of them are close to Vivaah. Maybe all are situational, but still not upto the mark.

What's up?.....

So, what's up with me? Nothing much. watching movies, listening music....and all.
Recently i watched a mind blowing movie, 'A Wednesday' Directed by Neeraj Pandey,
its a hard hitting movie, flat 100 minutes long, thrilling, chilling and an example of Tightest Screenplay. Naseer, Jimmy, Anupam, Aamir bashir and even Deepal Shaw, all of the actors acts so well. Director has made equally suited role for all of them. But main hero is Screenplay. Its so tight, u sit on edges and can't think, whats gonna happen next. People get speechless at last scene where Naseer speaks.
One thing i liked, title sequence, which is just typing letters on screen, whole cinema hall was silent. Good.

Music,
listening to Drona, these days. Title song is good. The best of all is 'Bandgi'. Sunidhi is so calm and soothing, and Roopkumar Rathod is comendable. So soothing song. You can listen to it, by lights off. In terrace. looking at stars.
Another good song, is Nanhe Nanhe, from the same movie, after so long time, Sadhna Sargam, my favorite, is singing. Once again a lullaby, like the one in Swades[ahista ahista]. This to is a good rendition.

and what, Karzzzz.......[Himesh...]nahiii...i was crying, when Himesh killed my fav lounge song, 'Punjab' by Karunesh. 'Lut Jau' is a straight lift of the former. And himesh has shown no courtesy to Karunesh, to mention his name on cd.
anyways, thought its a copy, it sounds good. Crooning is good, as usual. And overall haunting feel is good.
balance all songs are crap [whatever i heard, still there are 3 songs, slow ones, are yet to be heard]
'Dhoom tere ishq ki' is good, i wish it was sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, would be best.
Crap is ther too, Himesh has made total Kachra of old time classics.
Inspired by Om Shanti Om[from original movie], here it is, Hari om, the WORST song i have ever heard. Lyricist has written this crap see - 'tere ishq me dooba hai mera rom rom, hari om hari om' !!!!!!??????
And what does 'tandoori nights' means??? hungry or what???
'Ek hasina thi' sung by him and shrya ghoshal. total crap. this reminds me tribute of Farah Khan, in OSO 'Dastan e oso' was the best inspired song by ek hasina thi.

Yet to listen 3 songs, and read reviews that they are good. Lets see, i mean listen.

REALLY, LIFE IN A METRO's songs are having such thing, that whenver u listen to them , you have only one picture on mind...that s Mumbai. So much is the effect of the movie and the music. Other one song is 'Mann tu talbat' from 'Superstar' in movie, it is shot at Marine drive[only a bit of portion] with jumping waves at sea wall....you just oughta sing that song, when u walk on the sea facing wall......lastly..i will never forget singing 'Laree Chhoti...' form ek chalis ki last local....whenver i see a Mumbai Local Train. So suitable.
