Udaan : Music Review

Believed to be a biopic of Anurag Kashyap - 'Udaan' has got rave reviews around the festival circuits. Promos looks really promising and the inspirational and uplifting soundtrack makes me 'i can't wait for this movie'.

A really wonderful prelude welcomes listener to the track 'Kahaani Aankhon Ke Pardon se..'. Voice of Joi Barua and Neuman Pinto grows as the track goes further & reaches peak as superb strings takes centre stage, But ends up really soon in just near 3 minutes.

Pretty familiar 'Amit Trivedi' sound is there in 'Geet Mein Dhalte'. Reminicent to 'ek hulchul si [DevD]' , Amit Trivedi & Amitabh Bhattacharya rules with the track which repeats lines 'Naya kuchh naya zuroor hai'.....

'Nadi mein Talab hai' is another uplifting track, talking about freedom. Lets you fly with superb orchestration and lyrics. 'Naav' reminds me of S D Burman's trademark Boat songs as it starts, but again Amit's brilliant fusion takes over and with compelling vocals of Mohan, the track rocks.

After 'emotional atyaachar', Anurag is at it again, creating far more hilarious song. Written by himself, 'Motumaster' makes you laugh - literally. Sung by Raman Mahadevan, Amitabh, Bonnie C, Kshitij, Shriram Iyer, Amit Trivedi [phew..] & Anurag Kashyap. Sattire on politics, its another installment of such a song after Gulaal. But yes, its got '12' certificate in terms of lines. :)

Lazy strings makes another dreamy start to the track 'Aazadiyaan' sung by Amit Trivedi, Neuman Pinto & Amitabh Bhattacharya. Amazing Track. Beautiful piano and violins ends this album as wonderfully as it started - with Udaan Theme.

As said earlier, Amit Trivedi is 'the' one who seems most promising and creative guy we have got. And teaming up with Amitabh Bhattacharya - the word master, things can always go fantastic. After one by one superb albums, just can't wait for his next 'Aisha' where he's gonna do music for total different genre.

  3. Udaan is a good experimental album and the album is releasing only a fortnight before the film's arrival which means lesser time for promotion.

Vikramaditya Motwane wrote the screenplay and directed this film. Not Anurag
Anurag wrote the dialogues for this film as well as ong song, Motumaster.
Amit Trivedi composed the wonderful music and
Amitabh Bhattacharya is to be blamed for the wonderful lyrics.
