Anjaana Anjaani : Music Review

anjaanaanjaani3.jpgAfter watching very first promo, I was so annoyed that they played around one of the most favorite Rahman song of mine. Anjana Anjani from Yuva. I tweeted 2-3 times too that the song is annoying, but after repeated [hammering??] promos, I am actually loving the song. And after listening to full track 'Anjaana Anjaani ki Kahani' is a favorite fun song right now. Nikhil D'Souza and [yes, Indian Idol] Monali Thakur makes it fun on the go track. Oh, and did I mention 'RD Burmanish' sound in antaras?

After mazedar track Ahista Ahista in Bachna Ae Haseeno, VS again team up with Lucky Ali to give yet another great track. 'Hairat' penned by Vishal himself [!!] is outstanding in terms of words, singing and composition. As blogger-dost Harshit puts it, Lucky Ali still 'has it' at the age of 51. Indeed. Undoubtedly my fav from the album.

A hiccup comes after such tasty tracks, as soon as I hear voice of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, in a stereotyped manner. 'Aas Paas Khuda' is an okay number, sounds good only because of VS's composition and aalap before last para of song.

But instantly you get welcome change by voice of Shekhar Ravjiani. Smooth 'Tumse hi Tumse' creates atmosphere of a live band song at a cafe. Caralisa Monteiro adds her own touch by her English rendition. Lovely track and lyrics [by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Anvita Dutt Guptan and Caralisa !!].

Another track written by Vishal [with Kumaar] - Tujhe Bhoola Diya starts with Punjabi lines by shruti Pathak [remember her fab Mar Jaawan from Fashion]. Track changes color time to time. Mohit Chauhan sings this sad song with ease.

VS saves their trademark style songs for last. 'I feel Good' starts slow but gets 'pacey'as it goes on. Surprisingly Vishal sounds exactly same as Shankar Mahadevan in prelude. [as he made himself sound like Adnan in Shabd]. Shilpa Rao and Vishal makes this a fab listen. Both of them get together for 2nd title track - Anjaana Anjaani. Initially, this was the only title track in OST. But at last moment, the club track was added. The track has VS written all over it. A nice listen.

Overall, as far as the promos look bad [to me], the songs sound so good that it will make me go and watch this movie. Vishal-shekhar are on the roll this year. Keep 'em coming guys, you rock!

There are very few composers in industry which are consistent. V-S is definitely one of them.
Excellent Album, and peak is 'Hairat hai'. One of the best songs of V-S. :-)
